Do sinus infections cause bloodshot eyes?

Hi, ive been on Bactrim for a sinus infection for a couple of days now, and ive been waking up with some type of drainage on my eyes and nose, that's coming from my eyes, and then my eyes remain red all day. What is this, and whats causing this? Is it safe to wear my contacts?
