I have a eight year old student who has a very bad odor coming from the inside of her ear with drainage.?

I have a student with drainage and a bad odor coming out of her ear. She says it does not hurt bad but the smell lights up the clroom. What should I suggest to her mother when she thinks its just swimmers ear?
